"A true artist is someone who can not only appreciate art in general, but appreciate his or her own work - no matter the quality."
water is a little weird, maybe it's because of the big brush strokes.

Yeh brushes are tricky, I used to use so many brushes before, so many I rarly used the same for each painting more than once or twice
So I tried to pick one brush I like and try to stick with it, it helps to keep each environment to look like they were painting in the same.
But I also trying to find a few more brushes, like a less textured brush for clouds and stuff.
But in the end there is no truly right or wrong way to do it, its what u prefer and it can take alot of time and practice to find it out.
As for what a good brush would be, its hard to answer, but maybe something with abit of texture (presonal preference), and ofcourse not being too slow when working in bigger files in photoshop.
But ofcourse some people prefer to just use the normal round brush in photoshop.
Its best to go with what u like
I think this is some brush sharing thread maybe u find something there
